One week to go! Get ready for the 2019 Standard Chartered Great City Race
On Tuesday 16 July 2019, more than 5,000 runners from 419 companies will take part in the Standard Chartered Great City Race.
The 5K corporate running challenge sees City workers from across the banking, accountancy, insurance, legal and media industries come together to race around the closed streets of London’s Square Mile. This year funds are being raised in aid of Futuremakers by Standard Chartered, a global initiative to tackle inequality and promote greater economic inclusion for young people in our communities.
Runners will set off from the Start Line in the grounds of the Honourable Artillery Company at 7:15pm, where the race will also finish.
This year we’ll be joined by Liverpool Football Club legend John Aldridge, the 2019 Standard Chartered Great City Race’s special guest. He’ll join José Viñals, Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank, to present the awards to the fastest runners.
The impact of Futuremakers
Standard Chartered believes that everyone deserves the chance to identify and realise their full potential. However, globally, more than 200 million young people are still out of work or live in low-income poverty.
By supporting Futuremakers programmes through events such as the Standard Chartered Great City Race, we can help young people from underserved communities to access the knowledge and skills they need to thrive – empowering them to learn, earn and grow.
£10 from each entry fee to the 2019 Standard Chartered Great City Race will be donated to Futuremakers* and all money raised for the initiative from this year’s event will go toward education, employability and entrepreneurship programmes for disadvantaged young people around the world.
*£10 from each entry to the Standard Chartered Great City Race 2019 will be donated to Futuremakers by Standard Chartered and will support project implementation work of Women Win, a registered charity in the Netherlands under the name “Stitching Women Win, KvK 34267612.”
