How do I enter The Big Half?

General entries for The Big Half 2025 have sold out, but you can still apply for a charity place or take part in the New Balance Big Relay when entries open. 

Is there a minimum age for taking part?

Yes, participants in The Big Half must be aged 17 or over on Event Day. Younger participants are eligible to take part in The New Balance Big Relay and the family friendly one-mile event, The Big Mile.  
 
 

Can I change my start time so I can run with a friend?

You are welcome to move back to a later starting wave. There is no need to tell us, you can just do this on the day. You cannot, however, move to an earlier starting wave. 

What happens if I am unable to take part? Can I defer/transfer/refund my entry?

No, we do not offer a deferral, transfer or refund option for your entry – please see our General Conditions of Entry for more details. 
 

How do I let you know if I need to update my details?

It's important we have up-to-date details for you. You can update your details via your participant dashboard, which you can access via your entry confirmation email from Let's Do This. If you cannot find this, please contact us with your full name, booking ID and the email address you registered with and we’ll be in touch. 
 

Will I receive a Participant Guide?

 Yes, all participants will be emailed an official Participant Guide several weeks before the event. Your Participant Guide will include all the information you need to know before, during and after your event. 

I'm interested in pacing. How do I apply to run as a pacer at this event?

There is a dedicated team who look after pacer requests for all events. You can email them at [email protected] A member of the team will be in touch as soon as possible. 

Can my family come with me to the start?

Your family are welcome to travel with you to the start of the event, but they will not be able to enter the secure participant area with you, unless they are also taking part in the event. 

Can my family and friends track me at the event?

Family and friends can track you via the official app, which will be available to download around 10 days before Event Day. 

What road closures are in place for The Big Half?

Can participants in a wheelchair or similar assistive device be pushed around the course?

Yes, it is possible to push a wheelchair or similar assistive device around The Big Half course. Please specify, when prompted during the online application process, that you will be taking part in a wheelchair or similar assistive device. 

How do I set up an online fundraising page?

You can set up a free online fundraising page with Enthuse – the official online fundraising partner of London Marathon Events.

Do you have a T-shirt opt-out policy?

As part of our sustainability goals, for all London Marathon Events in 2025 and going forward, you’ll need to opt in to receive a T-shirt at most of our events as part of the online entry system. We’ve partnered with Trees Not Tees to plant a tree in the UK for everyone who opts out. Participants who opt out of a T-shirt receive a digital certificate with a photo of their tree and its what3words location. 

Do you have a medal opt-out policy?

As part of our sustainability goals, for all London Marathon Events in 2025 and going forward, you’ll need to opt in to receive a medal at most of our events as part of the online entry system. If you choose not to receive a medal, you’ll have the chance to take a unique Finish Line photo using one of our selfie frames. These bespoke selfie frames are reserved for finishers who have chosen not to receive a medal.  

All of our medals are made from recycled zinc alloy. The process, called zinc die-casting, is a more energy efficient manufacturing process compared to other metal die-casting processes, such as aluminium. We order medals in bulk to reduce freight movements (they are shipped by sea). Any leftover medals are recycled within the UK and the ribbons are recycled too. 

I opted not to receive a T-shirt and/or medal when I entered, but have changed my mind. Can I update my choice?  

You may update your choice until six weeks before the event via your entry confirmation email from Let's Do This or via your participant dashboard. After this date, changes will not be possible. If you cannot log in to your dashboard, please contact us with your full name, booking ID and the email address you registered with and we’ll be in touch. 

Are there pacers at The Big Half?

Yes, there will be pacers covering the following target finish times at the event from 1:20 to 3:30 hours (and times in between). More details about the pacers will be included in the Participant Guide, which will be emailed to participants several weeks before Event Day. 

Does The Big Half offer hospitality?

Yes, hospitality tickets are available to purchase for The Big Half. Head to our official registration partner, Let’s Do This, to find out more. 

What security measures do you have in place at The Big Half?

We work closely with the Metropolitan Police and other organisations and have a range of measures in place to ensure your safety and security. These include our highly trained security personnel, random bag searches, sniffer dogs and extensive CCTV, as well as other measures that may not be visible, to keep you safe.

Can I take part with a Support Runner?

If you are visually impaired, or your disability or medical condition means you need a Support Runner, you can apply for a free place for them. Please contact us outlining your request and the reasons for it. If you would like a Support Runner, the Richard Whitehead Foundation Supported Runners Project in partnership with Nissan can pair you with someone for Event Day. Register your interest with the Richard Whitehead Foundation to find out more.   
 

I am taking part with a Support Runner; will they receive an official time and medal?

Yes, as long as your Support Runner stays with you throughout the event, and you finish the event together, they will receive an official finish time and medal (if they opted-in to receive one when entering). 

Can someone else pick up my replacement pack? What does my nominated person need to pick up my pack?

Yes, your replacement pack can be picked up by a nominated person. Your nominated person needs to bring a copy/screenshot of your ID, your written consent and their own ID. 

What is the cut-off time to complete The Big Half?

The cut-off time to complete The Big Half is 4 hours. 

Do you have accessible spectator areas at The Big Half?

Yes, there is an accessible spectator area at The Big Half Finish. Please use what3words to find it at the following location:

Is there a bag-drop facility at The Big Half?

Yes, bags are transported from the Start to the Finish Please ensure you use the kitbag provided. 

Is there an event app for The Big Half?

No, The Big Half will not be live on TV.

Is there a quiet space at The Big Half?

Yes, there is a Sensory Calm Tent, for anyone who wants to take a moment away from the crowds, a Parent and Child Space, and Multi Faith Prayer Space that is open to all. These are located in the Festival Area after the Finish Line in Greenwich Park. There is also a Disability Hub around the halfway point on the route, which also offers a quiet space.

When do entries open for next year’s The Big Half?

Entries for next year’s The Big Half will open on Event Day, Sunday 7 September 2025. 

I would like to log a formal complaint – how do I do this?

A formal complaint can be logged via email to [email protected] with the subject line 'formal complaint regarding The Big Half' or via the contact us form, choosing the ‘feedback’ option. 

When will my Event Pack be delivered? 

If you live in the UK, you should receive your Event Pack by Tuesday 2 September. If you have not received your pack by this date, please fill out the Replacement Event Pack form, which will be available on the contact us page from 2 September, and we’ll organise for a replacement pack to be sent to you. Please also check your contact details are accurate and up to date. 

If you don’t live in the UK, you’ll need to collect your Event Pack from a central London location. The date and location will be confirmed nearer to the 2025 event.   

 

Can I transfer my entry to a friend?

Can I transfer my entry to a friend? 

No, entries cannot be transferred to someone else. It can cause issues for our medical services if you transfer your number to someone else, so please do not do this as you could be banned from future events organised by London Marathon Events.

Runner One: we recommend giving Runner Two your kitbag so they can hand it to you when you finish your run at Changeover Point One. 

Runner Two: we recommend giving Runner Three your kitbag so they can hand it to you when you finish your run at Changeover Point Two. 

Runner Three: we recommend giving Runner Four your kitbag so they can hand it to you when you finish your run at Changeover Point Three. 

Runner Four: we recommend giving Runner One your kitbag. Runner One can then give your kitbag to a member of the baggage drop team at the Start, so it will be waiting for you at the Finish Area in Greenwich.  
 
 

Is there an event app for The New Balance Big Relay?
