Olympic triathlon champion Alex Yee making TCS London Marathon debut

Alex Yee ahead of his TCS London Marathon debut

Joining you on the Start Line will be Olympic triathlon gold medallist Alex Yee, who is making his 26.2-mile debut at the 2025 TCS London Marathon on Sunday 27 April.

The 26-year-old Brit, who has won four Olympic Games medals for triathlon, is no stranger to competing in elite athletics, after racing for Great Britain on both the track and cross-country.

But the TCS London Marathon will be his most high-profile athletics race to date and the born-and-bred Londoner cannot wait to experience an event that has always been high on his to-do list.

Yee, who raced the Mini London Marathon five times during his junior career, said: “Committing to the TCS London Marathon for me was a no-brainer. It is an event that has given me so many memories. London Marathon day has been such a big part of my life growing up. I remember racing the Mini London Marathon multiple times as a young athlete and it was one of my biggest and most exciting races of the year. Taking part in a full marathon has always been an itch I’ve wanted to scratch and there isn’t any another place than London that I would want to start that journey.

“I will be focusing my training over the coming months on the marathon and am looking forward to seeing what I can do over the 26.2 miles. I am sure that once again the TCS London Marathon will include the best marathon runners from around the world and across the UK and I’m just looking forward to seeing how I fare in their company.”

Yee won the individual Olympic gold medal at last summer’s Paris Games in memorable fashion, closing a 12-second gap on Hayden Wilde of New Zealand in the final 3K to take a famous victory. It meant he went one better than the Tokyo Olympic Games where he finished with the silver medal. He was part of the gold medal-winning Great Britain triathlon team in Tokyo and the bronze medal-winning team in Paris.

The full elite field will be announced in the new year.
