Ford RideLondon, the world’s greatest festival of cycling, was developed by the Mayor of London and his agencies. It was first held in August 2013 and is a legacy event from the London 2012 Olympic Games.
More than 467,000 participants took part in the first seven editions of the event (2013-2019), which inspired more than 140,000 new or lapsed riders to start cycling. Since 2013, more than £80 million has been raised through RideLondon for more than 1,000 charities.
RideLondon could not be held in either 2020 or 2021 due to the pandemic, but returned in 2022 with a new format and a new partnership with Essex County Council. In January 2023, we then announced Ford as RideLondon’s new title partner, marking the start of a three-year partnership that built on the success of Ford’s role as presenting partner in 2022.
In May 2023 – marking the 10th anniversary of the event – more than 22,500 riders rode around the traffic-free streets of London and Essex in the Ford RideLondon-Essex 100, 60 and 30 challenges, while a further 50,000 people enjoyed the free, family-friendly Ford RideLondon FreeCycle. In the Ford RideLondon Classique, Charlotte Kool (Team DSM) also topped some of the best riders in the world to seal victory in a nail-biting finish on The Mall.
In May 2024 the Ford RideLondon Classique and the Ford RideLondon-Essex 100, 60 and 30 mass events returned alongside the popular FreeCycle event. The Classique took place from Friday 24 May until Sunday 26 May, with Lorena Wiebes continuing her dominance of the race by winning all three stages and the General Classification. The mass events took place on Sunday 26 May, with more than 21,000 finishers in the 100, 60 and 30-mile events, with thousands more enjoying FreeCycle.
RideLondon Classique
A three-day UCI Women’s World Tour race. The first two stages take place in Essex and the final stage is held central London.
More than 20,000 amateur riders take part in these three challenge rides on traffic-free roads in London and Essex. All start in central London and head out towards Essex, with the Ford RideLondon-Essex 100 featuring 65 miles in Essex. The Finish Line of all three rides is at Tower Bridge.
Ford RideLondon FreeCycle
The free, family-friendly event is held on eight miles of traffic-free roads in central London. The event passes through some of London’s most famous streets and past iconic landmarks. It also features two festival zones at Bank and St Paul’s.
