Families come out in force at inaugural GetPRO Bath Miles presented by Bath College

Children and young people flooded into Royal Victoria Park with their families and friends to run, walk, jog or wheel around a one-mile route in the grounds of Royal Victoria Park.

The event, which was free to take part, began with groups of under-11 and under-14 girls doing a lap of the park, with boys in the same age categories following suit.

GetPRO Bath Miles concluded with hundreds of families completing the same loop, crossing the Finish line with arms, and occasionally children, aloft, to claim their Finisher’s medal.

Alistair Williams ran with his twins John and Sophie, both 11, and said it was a great chance to complete an event as a family.
He said: “We loved it, it’s a very manageable distance and we all had fun and it is perfect for the family.

“We also loved that there was a sensory tent for our daughter Sophie. The time spent there before the start was perfect and she was able to take part and cross the Finish Line to pick up her medal.”

Olly and Kadie Nash, from Bath, ran with Kobi, eight, Albie, five and Hudson, two, and said it is their son who has been getting them active.

Olly said: “We love junior parkrun and there is nothing better than being outdoors. Kobi, who also ran the under-11 wave, has been getting us into running and it is so nice to be able to cross the Finish Line together.”

Throughout the day, those in attendance enjoyed the activities provided by Bath College, which included face painting, circus skills and other free family-friendly activities.

Joanna Wales, Event Lead for the GetPRO Bath Miles presented by Bath College, said: “The purpose of GetPRO Bath Miles is to ensure that nobody is left out from a wonderful weekend of activity, and the people of Bath and beyond fully embraced that today. It was fantastic to see so many people, of all ages and abilities, taking part with big smiles on their faces. This is the first year of the GetPRO Bath Miles and we are looking forward to making it even bigger and better in the future and entries for the 2026 event are open already.”

Entries for the 2026 GetPRO Bath Miles, to be held on Saturday 14 March, are already open, and you can sign up via Let's Do This for free.
